I have always installed the 5 slot carrier but I am working on a very small install and I only need the two slot carrier. This site is in a warehouse and is very hot so I was concerned about the heat build up issue in the 5 slot carrier.

Never installed one before and from the look and feel of it the cards seem like they have very little support. Bump them and the card could fall out. I placed tie wraps all around both card.

Am I missing something in the install. I don;t see anything in the install manual about securing them further.

Any feed back would be helpful.

There are 2 screw holes in the 2-slot that are used to secure to the modules. Then you put long screws through the top and bottom sides of the modules to secure them to the wall. I have mounted a small fan to circulate air around the tops of Partner systems to keep them from overheating.

Yes, thank you. I saw the screws but I used them to mount the carrier to the wall. I thought there must have been a more secure way to mount them. Thanks!

By the way, the 400EC module on the right is not powering up. On the 5 slot there is a secret fuse behind the back plane. I have not checked but could this be the problem with just the left module?

Boy do I feel stupid. You should see the thing sticking out of the wall like a sore thumb.

Makes much more sense when I do it the right way.

Any idea why the second module won't lite up. The secret fuse maybe?

Thanks!

Alot of times if you don't have the carrier just right the second card won't work.Don't over tighten the screws that hold the carrier on to the modules (the carrier should be at a 90 degree angle from the modules any more or less will cause your problem).

The fuse is inline with the power bus, so it affects AC to ALL modules in the carrier.

Was a bad 400EC. Pulled it and replaced it then "PROPERLY" installed the card and "PROPERLY" mounted it on the wall.

My customer asked me why they were no longer sticking out. I told them well I was concerned that someone might walk by and bump into it and I felt I had better mount it in the "alternate" mounting position.
