Hello;I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 motherboard running Ide drives now,I want to add a Sata Optical drive. There are to settings in bios,1 is to enable Sata. The second is to enable or disable sata dma?. Do I need to enable this sata dma,or leave it disable? Thankyou for any input on this one setting for dvd or blu-ray drive.

You are probably confusing SATA with IDE. In the BIOS, there are DMA settings for IDE which are enabled by default (you should leave it that way). There shouldn't be a DMA option for SATA. If there is for some strange reason, then I recommend resetting your BIOS to the factory defaults and take whatever setting it is changed to.

Here's a link to your manual that has all the standard and advanced settings (it doesn't list SATA DMA anywhere):

Hi cdogg, your right,it doesn't list it in the manual. It's in the bios Advanced menu,Ctrl+F1 in bios to enter Advanced menu.It is listed under integrated Peripherals, and is named Sata Dma Transfer? enable or disable. Was just wondering witch way to go with it.seems to be working with it disabled.Thankyou

lordgalla,
Read on. I also said this in my last post:
