Hello

We have a single SBS2003 server at the moment. We would like to install another SBS2003 for a child company, in the same company. We want to keep all our data seperate. Is this possible, I am thinking of the port forwarding issue and MX mail records.

If my thinking is correct do I need 2 seperate WAN IP addresses.

I can forward ports no problems, but how do you forward from 2 differnt WAN ips?

Thats fine. I want them to be totaly stand alone. But on the same physical network. On two different subnets.

My concern is both servers servers will need the same port forwarding to both servers. EG both will need port 80 and 443 to be forwarded to both boxes. This is the bit I cannot get my head around.

Cheers

I am thinking you will need 2 WAN IPS as well as 2 firewall/routers.

Now is this one physical ADSL connection with 2 IP addresses or 2 seperate ADSL lines?

Either way shouldn't matter. Both will need a dedicated firewall, or a firewall capable of doing 1-to-1 NAT.

Thanks that was what I needed 1 to 1 Nat. I can now start looking.

WOW I thought If i split then over 2 different Subnets they would be ok. Is this not the case?

If both subnets are on the same physical wire and the same VLAN (if that applies), how are you going to differentiate which machines are on which subnets, so that know which DHCP servers to use? Mark's right. You'll have problems if they are not split onto different networks. And tracking down a battle between DHCP servers is always fun.

Thanks.

I'll take the easy option. 2 Physical different networks. But If I had 2 different VLAN's could I do It thats way?
