Hi it’s me again with 2 more quazi-newbie questions :)

I’m in the process of activating about 50 of our unused DID lines and have run into an interesting quirk. From the outside, someone can dial the DID and get the person directly (as they should). But when the person calls an outside line, the Caller ID boxes aren’t showing it as coming from the personal DID number, but the companies main phone number. Is this something the phone company needs to update on their end to reflect the new numbers? Or am I missing a step on my side?

And my second question is a simple one I think. I use the MAT software to do the basic phone settings and updates. I was going to install the software on a 2nd system for backup reasons when I noticed that we are missing one of the disks. I called up our provider (SBC) and they said that they don’t sell the MAT software any more and each copy of MAT is custom made for each companies system and I would have to upgrade to something called Optivity if I was looking for a GUI. Does anyone know if this is true? And would I be able to get a copy of the disk from Nortel directly?

Thanks much guys :)

To answer your first question
Number one if you have pri with d-channel and your pri is b8zs then you have to setup your switch to out pulse did’s
Answer to your second questing
They are correct Mat is no logger supported by Nortel or any one but why do you even want to use this software it’s good to do many changes at one time but if you do simple adds moves and changes then do it from ld 10 or ld 11 one it a time
hope this info helps

StoneCold - Thanks for your quick reply. I mainly use the MAT software because by the time it takes me to get to the phone terminal i can make the change quicker in MAT (plus i really am not that good with the terminal commands yet)

On your first answer you said "Number one if you have pri with d-channel and your pri is b8zs then you have to setup your switch to out pulse did’s"

Is their an online document or manual that I can reference for setting up the switch to do this? I normally just deal with the basic phone stuff and never had to do anything this involved before.

Thanks again :)

When you say DID lines, do you mean DN's that are in you did range or are you adding 50 new trunks?

Do the exisiting phones show the Extn ID of the phone when making an outgoing call now?

Sorry should have been more clear on the first part. They are unassigned DN's that are currently in our DID range that were never before used.

The existing phones are useing non-did numbers, so when they call out they show up as the main company number. I setup 2 test phones with the new DID numbers, and they are showing the same information (main company number). I think this answers your question?

Ok first what do you use T1 or ground start trunks for outgoing traffic
If you use ground start trunk you can’t out pulse your dn number
You must have PRI with d-channel and your line must use b8zs coding to pass your pbx information to your provider

We have 2 T1 lines that support our phone system.
I guess the part that I’m confused on is this:

We currently have about 60 DID's setup and when they call out, callerID shows their personal DID number. When i assigned a never before used DN(that is in the DID range) and call out, the caller ID shows the main company number and not the DID.

Doesn't this mean that the T1 lines should be setup with b8zs currently since the original DID's work as they should? Or is this a setting that needs to be made per each DID number?

Sorry for being such a newbie at this and I truly do appreciate everyone’s help :)

Ok in this case its easy
First go to LD 20
Do PRT
TNB of any good working phone
And look what it says on key with the dn
It should be some thing like this
Key 0 scr 1234 0 marp
The 0 after 1234 it’s a caller id table you need to print good phone that out pulse did
And make the new phone the same
Also you can go to LD21 and do
PRT
CLID
and you will see how your caller id table are setup
Hope this works for you let me know

I believe you have to set the configuration to ND2 on the RDB, but you have to bring down the D channel to make changes.

jsak - you will save us all alot of questions by doing the following.

LD 60
stat

this will display your T1 setup and whether or not you have a dchannel for ISDN.

If you do have ISDN ( a d-channel on channel 23) go to

LD 21

Second question - MAT sofware is not specific to site - Just the keycodes. However, MAT required a dongle on the parrellel port. If you have two dongles or want to cary it around in your pocket and hook it up to which ever machine you want to use - it will work ok. Now you just need to get your hands on that missing disk.

Try setting the CLID table for a set to 1

ld 11
Req:Chg
type: 2616 <-- or what ever set type you are changing
ECHG: Yes
Item: key 0 scr xxx 1

CLID table 0 would send out 3162676371
CLID table 1 would send out 3162919xxx - your ext must be 3 digits long.
