ok, let me first start with the slowdown. FOr some reason, my internet explorer slows down, like when I'm typing my message just now. even though I am typing letters, its not showing on the box, but then when I wait it appears, its like a short term ahng. when I checked the task manager, it shows IEXPLORE.EXE with cpu usage at 97 and in the 90s. I wonder whats causing this? this happened today or yesertday and I want to knnow how to stop it. Before it was working fine.
ANother problem, is that somehow every timme this week when I start up my ieplore it goes to a page thats in C:/windows/hp.html and then it shows some search toolbar and all the stuff that search sites have. I decided to delete it, but then it comes back. I find 2 .bat files which I deleted, and also some .htm file which edits the registry its all in the windows folder. also when I open up the hp.htm in notepad, it has <script> and a bunch of letters that doesnt mean anything and then it ends with </script> can anyone help me? a reply is appreciated. thanks

try to make a scan using some spyware utilities eg: spybot search and destroy, you could get a free copy from
let us know if that improve things, and i'm assuming that you have some sort of antivirus , updated, scan you system

Hope that helps

well, I deleted the file that was specified. and Iwhen I restarded my computer, it no longer redirects to C:/WINDOWS/hp.html and it no longer exists or recopied when I restarted the computer, so thanks for your help.

This is probably far to late for you but for a full fix on the hijacked IE page download and run CW Shredder, it will remove the trojen and reset the required Reg. files to give a default 'blank' IE page, simply reset to your choice and the problem should be fixed.CW Shredder can be found under 'SpywareInfo'
