2 printers One Queue

Does anyone have any information on troubleshooting this type of situation ?

This server has two identical printers set up on the same Print Queue, the theory being that as one printer gets busy the other will automatically will take over the excess load.

It doesn't work correctly all the time, there are times the queue will just get backed up and nothing will print from either printer
