On MLX sets wired with 2 pairs instead of 4 pairs, you cannot use anything that requires power, such as DSS consoles and MFM adapters.
ATL sets cannot be run over 2 pairs, but require at least 3 pairs, 4 if you want off-hook voice announce, which requires an additional port wired to the brown pair.
