Ok, I would like to have (if possible) Windows 95 on one hard disk and Windows 2000 on another, both working on the same PC.
I'm currently running Windows 2000 on a 41GB hard disk and have just installed a second 4GB hard disk and want to install Windows 95 on it.
1st question....... Is this possible?

If it is, how do I do it?
The Windows 95 CD is not bootable, and for some reason my Windows 95 boot disk, is not booting.
2nd question...... Anybody know where I can get a Windows 95 boot disk that installs the CD drivers.

So the next thing I tried was to boot up using a Dos 6 disk, F3 out of the setup to give me a DOS prompt, but then I am unable to connect to the CD.
3rd question...... Do I have to install Dos onto the smaller hard disk first, and then run the setup from the CD?

I hope all this makes sense

1) Yes, it is totally possible - and straightforward.

2) Bootdisk.com have a ton of ready-made boot disks.

2a) To make your own, go to any Windows/DOS PC, with a version prior or equal to the one you are installing.

Format the floppy, after checking the Copy System files option, or, if at a DOS prompt, type sys c: a:

Next (at a bare minimum) copy the .sys CD driver for your drive (or get hold of a copy of SSCDROM.SYS), and mscdex.exe to the floppy.

Ideally you would want a copy of himem.sys, emm386.exe, smartdrv.exe, format.com and fdisk.com on the floppy as well. The last two tools are just in case you get the urge to repartition your hard disks.

Next, use any text editor to create a config.sys and autoexec.bat as below;

CONFIG.SYS

Device=a:\himem.sys
Device=a:\emm386.exe noems
DOS=High,UMB
DeviceHigh=a:\sscdrom.sys d:mycd001

AUTOEXEC.BAT

lh a:\smartdrv.exe 4096 4096
lh a:\mscdex.exe d:mycd001

This should boot up the PC and give you access to the CDROM. Note: Please make sure the files are copied to the floppy disk, and are the correct versions, or you will get error messages, and the disk will not work.

3) No. You can install either operating system on whichever disk you like. Dumbest first (DOS/Win9.x, then WinNT/2k/XP, then any version of Linux, if desired). Ideally, however, you would put DOS/Win9.x on the first disk/partition.

I hope this helps
