Is it possible to use more than one ODBC connection in one report? If so how?
Example 1: I have to create a report where 4 tables are from Oracle 8i and 1 table is from SQL Server 2000. Both have their ODBC setup and working separately.
Example 2: I have to create a report where 4 tables are from Oracle 8i in one server and 1 table is from Oracle 8i in a different server. Both have their ODBC setup and working separately.
***There may or may not be a common key to link with each other.(I am not kidding. This is a real life situation). Please help me if you can.
Databases: Oracle 8i and SQL Server 2000.
CR: 8.0/8.5
Thanks.

Yes, I have done this many times. When you first create a report using the wizard, you of course click on database and then your ODBC connections, and add the table(s) from the first data source. After that, hit Database again, and go find your second datasource, and add thsoe tables.

You may get a warning message that it may not be possible to link files because they are a different type. If you do, ignore it. I have never had this fail, although I am sure it is possible. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Hi,

I play with it every workday. I'm using Access 97 with Oracle 8i and Crystal Report V 7. There can be some problems.
First one : You can't make left or right joins.
Second one : It is better to work with subreports because many times I didn't get any data in my report due to the fact that there is two different databases and only one of the two were retieving the data. B-(
Me be you already know about it, just in case. :)
