Compaq notebook LCD shows only black screen, external monitor plugged in is fine. On the same day Dell Desktop monitor on same network shows only black screen. Note: this home network has teenage gamer-could this possibly have something to do with it? Ideas?
If an LCD goes down on a laptop there can be a few causes.
Most likely is the inverter is faulty or the backlight has died.
With the monitor, check that the brightness & contrast hasn't been played with on the monitor itself.
Try another monitor as well.
