I have a server that has two integrated nics. The server deals with a lot of traffic so I'd like to take advantage of both nics. Currently I just have a static IP assigned to the one nic. The other nic is not connected to the network. I do I go about configuring something like this? Can I just assign a static IP to the second nic and add this info into the DNS server? This is running on a Windows Server 2003 box.

It sounds like your best bet is to run Etherchannel between your 2 NIC's and the switch the server is connected. This will effectively double the bandwidth between the server and the switch.

You haven't mention what kind of switch you have but you should be ok. If it's a hub however you're stuffed so perhaps you can consider a LAN upgrade?

Check and see whether your switch and your NICs both support 80.23ad link aggregationd and you'll be good to go. There are a few slight nuances when getting it up and running but it isn't very difficult.
