We have one user that has a regular phone and a wirelss phones. Each phone has its own voicemail. He would like to have only one voicemail for both phones, I have looked in teh Ipoffice manager and can seem to find an option. I tried forwarding the wireless number when there is no answer to *ext# but it will not let me. (On our Ip office 406 when you dial * and the extension # you get the persone voicemail. Hope there is an easy solution. Thank you.

IF you have VM Pro, you can create a Start Point for the wireless phone. The action would be a LEAVE MAIL for the extension number of the main phone. Does that make sense?

You'd create a new LEAVE MAIL action for the wireless extension inside of VM Pro, and in that you'd drop a LEAVE MAIL block and program it for the extension number of the desk phone. This will tell VM Pro that whenever a call was hitting voicemail and trying to leave a message for the Wireless phone, to actually forward the call to the Desk Phone mailbox.

Kinda hard to explain w/ text, but........

If you don't have VM Pro, I know of no way to do it.

Hope this helps...

I do have VM pro so I will try to follow your instructions. brb . thanx.....oh so do I have to disable voicemail on the wireless phone?

no, keep it there so the PBX actually tries to send the call to VM. VM will be responsible for seeing where the call is from, then redirecting it to the correct box.

If you're really snazzy, you also would create a GET MAIL action. That way, when someone leaves a message for the desk phone, the wireless phone can also log into the correct box.

Just read your other thread. So, did this question get answered as quickly?

;)

I did. :) Im just going ovet the step to create the option on the VM pro.Do I do it in the Module section or the Specific Start points, or does it matter?

Ok I got the voicemail working woo hoo. You are good :) ...Now im just tyring to be snazzy and trying to your second opinion. Do I have to create a second Module? Can you give me some brief intructions. Thanks Kristiandg

USERS. Right Click (NEW). Pick the Wireless phone's name from the list. Checkmark GET and LEAVE.

Two new startpoints will exist under that user on the left. Pick one to start with (we'll say GET). Click on GET. On the canvas on the right, go up to the little hand holding an envelope. Select GET MAIL and drop that block on the canvas. Draw a line from START to that block. Open that block and enter in the blank field the number of the mailbox for the deskphone, rather than CALLERS MAILBOX.

For the LEAVE MAIL option, do the same, but select LEAVE MAIL rather than GET MAIL.

Another option is to set the user up as a hunt group. For instance lets say our person is Joe at extension 2120. Make a hunt group Joe with ring group 2120, extension JoeDesk at 3120, extension JoeWireless at extension 3220. Check that queing is off, ring all, and that the hunt group voicemail is on and broadcast is set. Also take JoeDesk and JoeWireless off of the directory.

When a voicemail is left for Joe, it will be available for both phones. You could also set voicemail off on the wireless phone and add a voicemailcollect ?JoeDesk

Anyway, that's another way of doing it.

Yes I think there are a couple of hunt groups that were set up but, the user neede to separete lines, one for the vendors and one for internal users :) .

Thanks again. I will these notes for future reference

Feel free to give out stars to those who provide assistance. they will do the same for you.

A 3rd solution is to use twinning, ringing the Main phone will ring both phones unless 1 is busy, then calls will go to the main phones Mailbox.
this Mailbox can be retrieved from either phone.

IPGuru, I think he's in North America where internal twinning does not work. Hopefully Avaya will make it work someday.

I suspected as much, but thought it worth mentioning for european useres with similar requirements

It makes a change for the US to be missing out of a good feature that we have, usualy we have to put up with the problems caused by US requirements (Call apperance keys are universaly hated in the UK) ;-)

I just set up a group w/vm today. 2 users, both with VM.

In vmpro,
set up group leave mail start point, to leave mail action for one of the exts.
works great.
