I have 2 Email Servers, 2 different IP address and 1 domain name. My question is can you have 2 IP's in a Domian Mx record so both IP's will pass the reverse DNS test? Since only 1 is assocated the other fails to pass through some spam filters.

Thanks

You can have the same rDNS configuration for two (or more) public IP addresses. Not a problem - I do it all the time.

You can have multiple MX records as well. But keep in mind that a common spammer tactics is to attack secondary/tertiary MX records because some orgs don't put the same hygiene resources behind them.

Thanks for the response. So I am guessing that I have to add the ip address to my DNS provider Network Solutions?

I do not think that I need a secondary MX record as it is only sending mail not receving?

or am I just confused.

Gotcha

here is my issue, I have 2 email servers 1 hosted by our web host (mydomain.com) and 1 exchange internal to our office. our internal also sends email with (mydomain.com) but since the rDNS for Mydomain.com points to the hosted email, Emails sent from the internal Email server sometimes get rejected becasue of rDNS failure. I know this is not the best way, but untill there is more money in the budget for new server and bandwidth this is how it is. How can I get the External IP of my internal mail in to that rDNs so there is 2 IP's there?
