I have 2 domains, one at each end of a WAN link. I can ping the other side ok, but can't see the other side in windows explorer. This is a pain since I'd like to be able to access folders on the other site.

Similarly if I connect to our VPN from home I can't browse the network.

Any idea what I need to do? Thanks.

I would guess that its because explorer relies on netbuie/netbios naming which is not a rouable protocol.

Best options are to use a WINS server or just populate your lmhosts file with the netbios name ---> ip address for name resolution.

Regards

Marc

I have two seperate domain which can browse each other, and we are using WINS servers on each side. It may be possible to do it with just a DNS but I haven't tried.
