Here is my scenario. I'm running Exchange 2000 on our domain controller. I get an email from the company owner. She wants me to create email addresses with a different domain name. What do I need to do? I can't do this on the same box can I? I don't think I can, but my boss told his boss we can!

So currently I have someone@domain1.com, and she wants to create someone@domain2.com. I need a separate Exchange server, configured on a separtate domain controller, right? Not to mention all the other stuff like registering another domain name, configuring my spam firewalls, etc.

Can someone tell me if it's technically possible to do this without purchasing more equipment or software?

The easiest solution is to contact your ISP. Have them host the second domain name and set up a forwarding SMTP service to route all mail that comes in to Domain2 to forward to your domain1 address. Then all you need to do is create a reciptiant policy to accept the forwarded mail from the domain2 address.

The down side to this is if you hit the reply button (under outlook) for mail that arrived under domain2 address the address going back to the sender will show up as the domain1 address. If this is an issue someone may know of a script or section that you can use/change to show consistancy in the address.

This is one suggestion for you anyways.
