2 DB on aix

hello there

I have rs/6000 H80 AIX 4.3.3 with 4 cpu's and 3 giga memory

On it run's INGRES 2 DB

I'm trring to install ORACLE 8.1.7i

I have run loadext -l pw-sycall and rootpre.sh
with no errors.

but when I'm trring to install the product, the installation is very slow ( more then 11 hours for the first CD)

does enyone know why or can help me with a solution

Might be faster if you move the installation tar file onto disk rather than install from CDROM? We install from an image file rather than directly from CD. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation

I have tried installing from HD, that took 11H
from cd it was even slower

Are you installing this from your graphical console or from a remote pc with X windows software on it ?

What products are you installing ?

when installing , does your system run slow i.e. check sar , vmstat .

Graphical installer is a java app, IIRC. Perhaps that is the issue. I do not have a timeframe for an ora install, but it does take a while. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation
