I have been tasked to upgrade a Enterprise Edge BCM to 4.0. This machine has been ugraded to 2.5 previously. I received new double density cards and a new expansion cabinet. I also received a preloaded 4.0 HDD as well as a 3.7 to 4.0 upgrade tool. I have never ugraded something so old to 4.0, so I am nervous. I was told that all that needed to be done was to plop the HDD in and let it upgrade everything including the MSC and PEC cards. I was also told that I would keep my telephony programming. Is this so? Also, is there a way to get export voicemails on the 2.5?

Thanks for any help,

All is true about the HDD replacement upgrade.
Sometimes you have to force the core upload to happen, but installing the latest Core patch will force it.
I think you probably received an upgrade keycode, not a tool. You will need to input the keycode to restore/convert all of your existing keycodes to the 4.0 format.

The only way to export voicemails is by using Unified/Desktop Messaging.

Good stuff to know, but i hope I dont see any more EEdges anytime soon.

The HDD install went well, but like you said the core upload failed...and no patch would revive it. I had to erase all telephony data AND force a MSC download to get my MSC up...it was a bad night, but that was mostly because I found out that these guys LOVED set relocation, meaning I had to go to every set and change the DN manually, that was faster than programming them all at once.
