I am running 2.1.35 on a 412. Can I upgrade this directly to 3.1.65 and then 3.2.17? Or must I upgrade to 3.0.99 then 3.1.65 and finally to 3.2.17. Anything I need to watch out for when doing the upgrades?

Thanks!

Very detailed documents at support.avaya.com regarding this release and how to upgrade from various releases. The Tech Bulletin 071 has all of the instructions, and the installation manual for 3.2 has very detailed instructions.

I don't know if the 412 requires the 3.0.99 upgrade. Don't believe it does. Thought that was for smaller systems w/ less memory. However, the purpose of this intermediate release is to re-map the partition on the flash storage drive. This allows the system to accept the new (now larger) code.

Hope this helps...

What do you preffer to do: Save 5 minutes of waiting for your system to reboot or trying to load the correct version after you erased you system using the DTE port?

Do what Avaya says, they have a good reason for giving the process they describe.

OK, siftach, let me rephrase, as you obviously missed the point.

I don't think the 412 had a 3.0.99 written for it. This can be confirmed by looking in the MANAGER directory and seeing if there is a 412 directory. There is a 403 and 406 directory (as those require the upgrade).

For those who didn't "get it"...

there isn't either one for the SOE
i did an upgrade today and copyed the bin file from a 3.1.65 install
and after that a further upgrade to 3.2.17
no problems at all
so if you have any doubt do it that way

Before any upgrade to 3.2 all systems must be at 3.1.65.

I would go from 2.1 to 3.0 to 3.1 (65) and then to 3.2.

All the .99 version are for the 403 and 406.
This is the easy way.

I always use the export and import if i make great steps.
Exporting the most settings in a csv file.
Then cleaning the box and put in the version i want and export the users, shortcode,s enz.
Cheking all other settings.

This way i am 99% sure i don,t have a corrupted system and problems with it.

It will take a little longer:)

I haved also beeen recommended in the past to go to the last maint release of each level.
eg
if at 2.1(35)
go
2.0(18)>2.1(73)>3.0(69)>3.1(65)>3.2(17) (along with 2.1(999)/3.1(999)etc where needed)

I suppose the theory is the D/B is subjected to massive changes at one go.

Only going up one level at a time was something we used to have to do on the INDeX which was a major pain and took a long time.

Not sure on other peoples views on multi-level upgrades but I always think a bit more time used at the begining could be days saved later.

sorry just noticed

forget the 2.0(18) step. that would be silly when starting at 2.1(35)!!!!!
