Hi,

I am not sure if this is the correct forum or the Avaya forum. I basically have Nice trunk side loggers and want to record internal calls. I have the pbx side setup and the calls work fine but for some reason only 1 side of the conversation is recorded. Can anyone suggest why?

Thanks.

hi,

need to confirm where the audio is gettin routed. The other side of call maybe on a monitored trunk whilst the other may not be. May a call from one of the exts that you know are affacted and check the logs for channel server and avaya driver on cls to see where the issue is.

Summed or unsummed trunks?

In the logger definition if you have two trunks configured horizontally removed the right most trunk and see if it resolves your issue. I think when using summed you should only use the left most fields (i.e. trunk 1 and timeslot 1) and leave the two right most empty (i.e. trunk 2 and timeslot 2).

Hope this makes some sense.

Also check your pins RX and TX are on going into coupler, pins used should be 1,2 and 4,5.

Thanks for the replies.

When checking Monitor I am getting NOS,LTA which I dont understand becasue the calls themselves are fine so they signalling must be ok or am I missing something?

The setup I have is 2 ds1 boards wired into the trunk side logger, 1 on each side. On the pbx I have setup routing so that any calls made to our helpdesk go down these trunks, the pbx side is fine as we can heard each other, etc.

Thanks

The couplers are 8 wire straight through cabling so if you are using the wrong pin outs the trunk will still stand up however it's possible you may only get one sided speech if you are only picking up RX or TX. NOS means No Signal, LTA means Long Term Alarm. LTA is less important, NOS signifies something more important is wrong. Please check you are using pins 1,2 and 4,5 for your signalling through from the PSTN to the coupler and from the coupler to the PABX.

Ok, thanks for that, I will check the pin-out. There is no PSTN as its internal trunks we have created, both sides of the coupler are wired to 2 separate boards on our Avaya PBX to create an internal trunk.

I have just checked the cabling and it is standard cat5 straight through for both sides.

Before getting too deep into this - you want to record an internal call? (I'm assuming within your PBX and not to another PBX?).

If you're recording trunk side, if I'm not mistaken, it can't be done because of the point where you're tapping into the audio. Most trunk side solutions will tap into the trunk before it enters the PBX, hence any internal calls made never even reach the coupler that taps off the trunk.

It is trunk side recording and we have managed to sort the issue. We think it might have been a loose connection in the crossover amphenol cable.
