Got some ciscos here, 1800, 2800 & 2500 series.
Is it possible to get the routers' serial numbers remotely, not by checking them physically?

Depending on the model (don't know specifically), the serial number is usually the processor board number...

Cisco 2620XM (MPC860P) processor (revision 1.0) with 127627K/3445K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID xxxxxxxxxxxx<<---RIGHT HERE
M860 processor: part number 5, mask 2
1 FastEthernet interface
1 Serial interface
1 ATM interface
32K bytes of NVRAM.
49152K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

Configuration register is 0x2102

One may have to physically look though---I have seen models like the 2600 that do not show up on Cisco.com, and one would have to physically look at the bottom, as the chassis serial number is the actual serial number. This holds true for the VPN Concentrators. Most switches will be in the sh version. The PIX/ASA will be a number in the sh version output, but you must add two more of what the first digit is. For example, if the PIX is "87746356", then the actual serial number (as it is on Cisco.com) will be "8887746356". That is only for the PIX/ASA.
