I have two cisco routers (1721 & 1750), each with c1700-y-mz.121-27b.bin installed.

The problem is the 1721 does not seem to recognize a WIC card in either slot (WIC 1DSU T1). Both cards work fine in the 1750 but appear dead in the 1721.

The 1721 was pulled from a working environment and the 1750 works perfectly. I am new to Cisco IOS so when resetting the password I ended up reinstalling the IOS, taking a copy from the 1750.

When using commands 'show diag' I get nothing back and using 'show ip interface brief' only shows the ethernet interface.

Here is the results from 'show version':

thune uptime is 10 minutes
System returned to ROM by power-on
System image file is "flash:c1700-y-mz.121-27b.bin"

How do I get it to recognize one of the WIC's?

Thanks much

Also...the one WIC came from the 1721 in a working environment so I know it shouldn't be a hardware compatibility problem. Could a version of IOS work with the card in one router but not another model?

Thanks again,

jw88

You need a minimum IP Plus 12.2(15)ZL1 - c1700-sy-mz.122-15.ZL1

It requires 64Mb DRAM but you have enough flash onboard.

GM2005, greatly appreciated. ;-)

I think I'll try reading 2 minutes of documentation next time before erasing flash and changing registers w/o backing up or documenting next time......

Thanks again,

How many times must one be bitten before learning?.....
