Hi

Does anybody know whether a 1720 router can be used with a ISDN 128k leased line. Using configmaker when i try to add a ISDN leased line to the diagram to connect the 2 1720 routers it will not allow it.

Regards
Deleco :)

Is it ISDN or leased line? One or the other ... not both!! If it's X.21 then the chances are that it's a leased line and not ISDN (in Europe anyway .. don't know about the states!!)

Well we were told by BT that it was a 128k ISDN Leased Line. On the basis that it is a leased line will it work with the 1720 router.

If it's a BT line with an X.21 interface then it's a leased line and not an ISDN line. So, you need a serial interface card for your 1720 router and you then configure the serial interface for a PPP connection to the remote end, either local POP for internet access or remote site. An ISDN line will come on an ISDN NT1 box with an RJ-45 port presentation that you patch in to an ISDN BRI S/T interface on your router.

The 1720 will do either leased line (serial WIC), ISDN (BRI card) or ADSL (ADSL WIC).

What presentation have you got? X.21 on an NTE or RJ-45 on a ISDN NT1?

Chris.

We have got a X.21 connection. That is another problem we need a converter cable from X.21 to RJ-45 is one available. As you can tell i am quite new to this router.
