I am in the process of converging voice and data over frame relay. The corporate site has 125 users, one remote site has about 25 users and the last remote site has about 12 users. Data and voice are minimal now, but will grow in the next few years.
1) Should corporate use the 2600 series or the 3600 series?
2) Should the remote sites use the 2600 series or could they get by with the 1720?
Bandwidth would be 512/384 CIR at corporate and 256/128 CIR at the remote sites.
Like most projects, I have a small budget. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I just finished a major project doing exactly what you are about to do. I have many, many questions that need to be ask and answered, but to make things easier for you I'll provide some valid input. However you must be keenly aware about your future plans regarding scalability? This is very important!

You say that you have a remote site and because of this you need either a AS5300 or at a very minimum a 3640. A 2600 is cheaper but it won't work. Regardless of what Cisco say's it doesn't have the horsepower to do both routing and telephony. A 2620 will allow you to use VoIP utilizing a voice module housing either FXO or FXS cards, but you are severely limited to either two or four lines max. For the above reasons, and the fact that the FXO and FXS cards won't work on the 1700's you wouldn't want to use a 1720.

The 3640 has multiple module slots for various applications, and is much, much cheaper than a AS5300 (@ $65K). I could go on and on, but I'll need a lot more info to assist you.

Here is my email address. Ping me when you get a chance State@lipstream.com
