OK. I have a Compaq Evo D510 SFF PC with a newly installed 160GB WD HDD. I partitioned it as a full 160GB drive all on C and have about 90GB of files on it. However every time this thing goes to record a file from the Hauppauge card that's on it, it ends up being like 20-30GB, massively sized.

OS is Windows 2000sp4, NTFS partition, originally installed on a 40GB HDD. I used Partition Magic to do a partition to partition copy onto the full 160GB partition.

The default in the BIOS I noticed was "bit shift" but changing to LBA didn't make a difference. I thought it might be due to a lack of a 48-bit LBA mode in the BIOS, so I upgraded from Compaq BIOS v2.13 to v3.03, and ensured it was set to LBA mode. No dice.

Any other theories as to why this could be happening? Does it sounds like the partition is messed up?

Slightly off topic, but...
with 2000 and XP you want to create a seperate partition for your pagefile. The compaq restore CD should have put it there for you.

Also, watch the heat in that SFF. I've just lost 2 of that exact drive due to heat. *Make sure you have Compaq's DMI agents loaded to warn you when it gets hot, and heed the warnings.
