I put a 1608 into factory test mode with [MUTE] CRAFT FACTORY #... Does anyone know a way to take it out or have I just bricked a phone?

I think you did as factory is not a supported option and probably does do something with it.
What do you see in the display? do you see anything on the screen or in Wireshark?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

It goes through a series of tests, memory, flash, keys, display, hook etc. a little like booting an old index phone up while holding 1 down.

I get stuck on Headset Control Test - I guess I just need to plug in an electronic hook switch?

I presume once all the tests are complete there will be an option to restart normally.

Could be quite useful if I can get out of it - i'll have a play with it tomorrow.

Managed to recover the phone so quite a useful test mode. You have to complete all the tests before it will restart in normal mode.

To complete the testing you will need 2 devices plugged into the network on 192.0.2.1 and 192.0.2.23 for it's ethernet tests and an RJ10 to short out pins 1 and 4 for headset control tests.

Well done. But confirms really that it truely is a factory test function not for public cinsumption. The public equivalent is TEST.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I had 2 come from Avaya in this mode last week. This thread helped so thanks where it due.

The main thing I missed was when the LCD test runs it shows a number all across the screen. You need to press that number to pass that test.

If any tests fail it won't start properly. ie, you need to test the headset relay (as above or with a headset) and need 2 devices with the IP address on the same LAN to test Ethernet.

Saved me sending them back!!

Bit concerning when it does start and says "Getting MAC". I know Avaya love to mess with these numbers!!!!
