S8400/G650 CM 5.1.2 . About 5 1603 formelly working stations after a network outage, stuck in the registration process "Discovering 192......" . They also do not see the file server. When i exchange on of them with an 9640 station the 9640 comes up without a problem so i can guess that it is not a network problem. As for the firmware of the 1603 stations it is not up to date but i have already put on the file server the 1.1 firmware without the chance to push it on the phones because they cannot find the file server.

Any help much appreciated.

boot the phones and press * when able.

Then press # repeadedly until you see "Enter Command".

Then mute - 7 3 7 3 8 # ( to reset the phone)

Then the phone should poll for Option 176 again. If you still have this problem check the network settings for the port and the option 176 settings for the vlan those phones are on.

we had this problem after recently moving a CLAN to a different locqation. Those phones had that clan in their registration list but couldnt talk to it so they hung. As soon as we cleared the phones settings, fixed the option 176, and reboot the phones they worked fine.

We also noted with our 16xx phones that we couldnt get past DHCP unless there was a current load of firmware available on the http server. Still don't know why this was an issue.

-No firmware on the http server the phones would hang.
-Higher firmware on the http server (intened to upgrade from 1.03 on the phones to 1.1) and the phones would prgress farther bust still hang.
-The same firware currently on the phones put on the http server and the phones would boot normally.

No DHCP used. Static IPs. The really weird thing is that is happenning only to 1603 phones. Now they can see the file server and even upgrade their firmware, but they cannot register. Every other IP phone registers ok on the same switch port the 1603 cannot. I took one of the 1603 on our Demo in the office and it comes up just fine.

Bellow the output of the trace command

11:06:27 rcv GRQ endpt 192.168.3.155:49300 switch 192.168.3.11:1719 ext 4616
11:06:27 snd GCF endpt 192.168.3.155:49300 switch 192.168.3.11:1719 ext 4616
11:06:52 rcv GRQ endpt 192.168.3.155:49302 switch 192.168.3.11:1719 ext 4616
11:06:52 snd GCF endpt 192.168.3.155:49302 switch 192.168.3.11:1719 ext 4616

I think the phone has it's ARP cache stuck. Use the clear all command in the phone menu, and reset it from "out-of-box"

Speak softly and carry a big switch

Sorry but what do you mean saying "out of box"?

As if it were brand new and just out of (it's) box.

Speak softly and carry a big switch

Turn off all firewalls and ACL's , I had a similar issue and it seems that the new phones use a different port in the refgistration process.
