150 gb harddrive addressing for capacity

48-bit addressing is required to exceed the 137-Gbyte capacity limitation imposed by 28-bit addressing" Can someone please explain what this means? Looking for a larger harddrive and have noticed the larger drives need attention to enable their full capacity. thank you
 
If you've got a PC built in the last 2-3 years, chances are you won't have any issues. Otherwise, that link Freestone posted should have all the info you need.

Just as an FYI, you can always add a PCI IDE controller card with 48-bit capability if it turns out your motherboard won't support it with a BIOS update.
