I have a customer with 1416 phones. They have issues with the volume going up and down when using speakerphone. I have upgraded the firmware from 6.1(5) to 6.1(504) to 6.1(12). None of the three firmware releases has fixed the issue. I have tried replacing the phones and hardware. I checked to make sure the phones have the latest software. I have tried turning AGC on and off and nothing seems to fix the issue. Has anybody else ran into this issue? I thought 6.1(12) had all the fixes to the volume issues on the 1416's.

Thanks Michael

This is because it has a half duplex speaker phone.
Try it yourself, speak when the other speaks and it will go down.

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

The issue happens even while just listening to the person on the other end and not trying to talk when they talk.

The bachground noise is enough to do this!
Get a proper phone if you need to use the speaker phone.
I am not talking bullsh*t :)

Indeed, when the mic detects the speaker it cuts the volume to avoid feedback, as these handsets are nasty (was going to say cheap and nasty but they ain't really cheap) it is very abrupt and noticeable :)

Do you have a suggestion for a replacement model? I used to use the 5400 series before they discontinued them. I am not a big fan of the 1400 series at all.

I will give them a try. Thanks for the suggestions. The 1416's are junk in my opinion.

You need to be on 7.0 for the 9500 phones!!!
They do not work on 6.1

Indeed, I had not noticed/paid attention to the version you mentioned, 7.0 only for 95xx's :)

I have a similar issue. I recently installed an IP500V2 and upgraded to 7.0(23) from 7.0(5). I am using all 9508's. On practically every call, I get intermittent hissing, and the volume goes in and out on its own. It's remarkably noticeable and annoying.

My distributor says to use AGC, however, as is indicated in boards everywhere, this does little to nothing to remedy the issue.

Are there any other settings I should be looking at?

Any feedback will be appreciated.
