Is there a system of ATT/Lucent/Avaya that I can use for a small 130 Motel? The customer has a very old Mitel and wants to update his phone service adding voice mail for the guests and voice assisted wake up calling service.

He does not want to bother with rebilling of toll service and just provide basic services such as local calling which is free here in Las Vegas anyway.

I install Partner/Merlin & Nortel all the time. Partner may not be large enought for them.

Can I reuse his 2500 analog sets that are already in the rooms, they have a MWI light and the sets are in good condition.

He will go with new or preowned. This is a simple project so I would like to keep the costs down for him and I would like to make it as easy for me to program as I can make it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You may want to look into the IP Office line for them. It will fit your needs.

The Merlin Magix, though discontinued, might be worth considering.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

I know this is an Avaya thread.

I would agree with either IP Office or the more stable and reliable yet discontinued Magix.

But another option might be a MICS. (yes I work on it all lol)

Yes, I posted on the Nortel site regharding MICS. MICS is my favorite to work on.

Is the Magix an easy to install and program system. I have only worked on Merlin Classic and Partner for the last several years.

The Magix can be a bit of a challenge to program. It requires an understanding of Calling Groups and how they interact with each other.

When comparing a Magix to a Norstar Meridian, I tend to favor the Magix (but your mileage may vary). [bigsmile]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Will IP Office allow the reuse of the existing 2500 sets with MWI? This will save them a lot of money.

Also, will IP office allow for a "self serve" voice prompted version of wake up calling and voice mail for each guest room?

On the 2500 sets and IPO yes they will work. you may want ot check in the ip office forum here to see about the Wake up calls.

I also work on MICS, Magix, and IPO - for the money, the Magix would get my vote. Having said that, I would also look at a company called Duvoice (they provide the voice mail and offer hospitality-specific packages) - they have done some work with IP Office that saves lots of $$ using T1 for calling. It also works on the Magix and I would assume the MICS. Their web site is duvoicedotcom.

I have worked on DuVoice vm's before too.... It's actually a very robust and easily programmable voicemail. Just don't run any real time anti-virus on it. That causes lot o problems.

Don't let your extended warranty on the Duvoice expire.Their support/service lacks if it does.
