Just a quick question:

Do you need to buy a certificate in order to get a secure connection ?

I would like to test it on a laptop (winXP Apache 2) and then possibly, (if free, but somehow I doubt it) set it up on the server (commercial but no ssl as of yet)

Thanks

You can generate your own certificates using the tools provided. I recommend using OpenSA to get an easy to install windows SSL system.

I just built a distributable system using this as a component, it worked out very well.

If you go public its recommended to get a signed certificate from a registered certificate authority (CA). Luckily people like FreeSSL ( are VERY reasonable, a big change from the Verisign monopoly days.

Thanks!

I downloaded the package and I'll try it out :)
