1220 printer

I have a HP 1220 printer. Recently, it started printing only the top inch or two and then ejects the partially printed page. It does not seem to be related to paper type, file memory size, new ink cartridge, etc. Sometimes it tries again. Always the same result. Is there some kind of utility I can run? I have Mac OSX Tiger.
