Greetings my Nortel Techs....

I am having an issue with several 1220 IP sets on remote site - running on a BCM450.
The sets for some reason are are not powered anymore using the power adapter, I brought sets back to my office and can power up via the PoE switch, but power adapter will not power up set anymore.

3 sets powered down about a month ago... I have PoE inline power adapters that can power the set for now ,whilst I found a solution - since we have no 1220 sets in our warehouse to replace sets.
I received a call today stating that 2 more sets have failed that are running with power adapters.

Has anyone else experienced these issues with these sets?

I will try and get the site to install a PoE switch, but not too sure why the power adapter is failing...

Thanks All.

Are you using the correct POE adaptors? The small ones manufactured for the 2000 series sets are too small and will burn out. I have never had one of the new ones burn out and I have hundreds of them deployed. If you're using the correct one then I would suspect dirty power or inaccurate voltage at the site.

Nortel put out a bulletin in 2009 saying not to use certain models of power supplies with certain models of 1210/1220/1230 phones.

I said POE adaptor when I actually meant power supply. Make sure you're using the one designated for your phone, not one purchased for a 2000 series set.

I'll check and report back... Thanks for the information.

Sorry to bug you again...

But GWebster or anyone, can you elaborate a bit more.

I have no actual access to information about what power supply cannot be used with which phone.

Thanks.

Hi,

I had bunch of 1220 ( manufactured 2009/10/09 ) failed the same way in various US cities Their fuse were blown as we were told by Avaya as they still work thru POE switch or power injector .

I am still waiting for a solution from Avaya / Nortel.
It looked like there are bad 1220 batch out there , IMHO.

Thanks,
