120gb HD doesnt boot XP

I have a 120GB hard drive from Western Digital and am trying to install XP. The install seems to go fine, and I'm using NTFS. I let XP do the countdown to restart, it restarts, POSTs, and then boots to an "Error loading operating system" error message. Anyone have any ideas as to how i can use the full 120gb of my drive?

what is your motherboaed make? it may not able to handle that large of a hard drive with out a newer bios flash up date,
