I am having a problem tftping a new 12.4 IOS to my 2851 routers (the IOS is 32.1MB in size). The download goes ok for a while but then bombs out and on the router i just get a bunch of OOOOOOOOOOOO. My flash is plenty large enough, the min was 64 Meg and it's an 128 Meg flash card. I downloaded a 3com tftp server that was supposely able to handle tftp files 32MB and above. I'm not quite sure what to do from here.

This is generally an issue with your TFTP Server. There were limits to 16MB transfers in a lot of older TFTP Servers. Have a google for 16MB and TFTP. If you can't find an updated TFTP server app that supports 32MB+ transfers then you could always use FTP?

ftp is more reliable and a secure transfer protocol.

Be sure to setup in 'config t' mode:

ip ftp username <userID>
ip ftp password <password>
! For some ftp servers you will need
!no ip ftp passive
! if running tcpwrappers on you ftp server use
! (think this is correct format)
!ip ftp source f0/0

ftp is a little slower than tftp but no size limitations.
