Hello,

Were some of you able to connect a Nortel IP 1150e on a BCM50 R.6?

Thank You

Not supported on the BCM from what I see.

I know the 1165E isn't supported on the BCM, but it works. I have one connected to my BCM50. With that said, it only shows 6 autodial/line buttons as opposed to the 8 that are on the phone. It works like an 1140E. Teletech in Addison, IL uses them as their main phones...they just don't have functionality on 2 of the line keys. They just show up empty.

I was going to get the 1150e for my foyer (wall mounted by the door) at one time so I could I talk to the door phone when needed.
I do want the 1165e though just because but too expensive at the moment.

I've read in many Avaya/Nortel documents and some just contradict themselves...

I just wanted to know if some of you had one working on a Bcm50 R.6

I am trying to log one on my Bcm and I am getting stuck at "connecting to server"!

It will not go further...

Regards

I think it can be done as my own BCM 50 system has recently been modified to have the latest Avaya firmware (*.C91) files put it in.

The 1140E IP phone reports that its type is 2 and phase 37. The 1165E reports type 2 phase 38. The 1150 reports type 6 phase 39.

The BCM software knows how to handle type 2 IP phones (i2004 layout with 6 programmable keys). That's why the 1165E phone works (the extra programmable keys are not recognized - the 1165 is handled like any other i2004 type phone).

The type 6 (1150E) is not recognized by the BCM software. If you look at the logs, you would find the software complaining about "unknown terminal type" for the IP address of the 1150E. The BCM does not reply to devices with an unknown type - that's why the phone shows "Connecting to server".

In short, the 1150E phones do not work on BCM switches because their type is not recognized/supported. As RLSbutton mentioned above, if you want to use 1150E phones, you are limited to CS1000, CS2100 or UCx.

Thanks alot Ucxguy,

I have already purchased on eBay two of these 1150e telephones.

I will certainly use them later. I am waiting for answers about the Ucx50 from eMetrotel.
If the answers are in my favor I will be merging to Ucx.

Regards

Thank you UCxguy, FirebirdScrambler and everyone else for all of the answers!

The information about the 1150E is good for me to know as well. I've never plugged my 1150E into my BCM with the fear that my BCM will upgrade the firmware on the phone away from the Nortel firmware.....but now I know that wouldn't even happen with the BCM since the 1150E isn't recognized.

Curly, keep checking eBay for those 1165Es. Occasionally someone sells them dirt cheap. Under $200 is a great price for one of those sets. I once picked one up for $25 with a KEM attached to it. I was really lucky on that one.....

As for wanting the 1150E to work as a door phone.....there is always hope if you end up getting a UCx one day, lol.

Blackybear, if you are interested in seeing how the 1150E works on the UCx, get a hold of me and I can set up your 1150Es as remote clients on my lab UCx and you can see how they function. Do you have an available handset and handset cord or headset for the phones? Get a hold of me on Linkedin, I am around all day today. Or I think you may have my email.
