I have a BCM50 2.0 with 1140e sets. When users are on a call using a headset and another call comes in, the phone rings and distract the user. Can i stop the phone from ringing, or just make it beep once. I do not see anything in the DN setup that would control ringing. Thanks in advance.

When the engineers from Nortel refined the 11xx IP phones to work on the BCM, or any Nortel IP phone that is, they dummied down the phones to act as enhanced Norstar/BCM phones. In your case, the BCM never allowed users to change the way a second call comes in. The more advanced CS1000 does allow you to choose Buzz, Ring or Silence on a second incoming call. I've always been annoyed by this on the BCM.

All you have to do is under capabilities set the DND on busy yes or if your going through EM just check the box. This will make the second call go to VM instead of ringing the phone while someone is on it.

You can't turn the second caller off but you can make it go to vmail or another ext. I've only had a hand full of people ever complain about this and it's usually people that shouldn't be answering the phone anyway.
