I've connected 2 X 1120e sets onto my BCM50.

The first one is connected to the LAN, the second os connected to the first, from that set's data port.

The first set reaches the BCM and works just fine, the second does not reach DHCP and continues to cycle.

I've exchanged the sets and it doesn't matter which position they are in, whichever one is first from the LAN works fine, the second does not register and cycles to reach the DHCP server.

I've also connected a laptop to the data port and I'm not able to get an IP address.

Am I missing a setting on the first set which enables the port? I do have the data port enabled. The little green light come on at the pont of ethernet connection on the second set, but I'm unable to get an IP address for that set.

thought?

Why would u connect a phone to the pc port of the phone instead of connecting to the lan?

Using a very confusing and illogical example is not likely a helpful way of explaining your problem.

Just saying, a laptop connected to the PC port does not get an IP address via DHCP should be sufficient. The bits about trying it with another phone are just strange.

Now, the question is, if you hardcode an IP address into this laptop connected via the PC port on the phone are you able to get any network traffic going?

Does your network use VLAN's to separate voice and data traffic?

If nothing is going through even with a manual IP then if you run a network packet capture utility like wireshark do you get any packets from the rest of the network captured?

What are all the network settings you have made on the phone specifically the ones related to the "Ntwk port..." and "PC Port..."

I am guessing you have enable data 802.1Q turned on with a Data VLAN set when your data network doesn't use it.

I was trying to provide as much detail as possible. My apologies for being 'confusing' and 'illogical'. :)

In any case, to answer the first question, I connected the second phone to the PC port of the first phone, instead of the LAN, because it's easier than running a second ethernet cable. The workstations are located beside each other.

I hadn't tried to set a static IP. I have no idea if my network uses VLANs to separate voice & data traffic. (it's a BCM50 with default configuration)

I did, however, get them both working by disabling the '802.1ab LLDP' checkbox. Not sure what that's for, but they both work now.

Thanks for the feedback.
