We are experienceing an issue with 1140 ip phones. Over the past few weeks we have had 7-10 phone become hot to the touch start to squelch and then die. We were thinking that is may be a power issue from the switch be we have not seen any supporting information on the subject. This may be the scenerio when the phone starts to die from normal usable, i dont know? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

In some of the earlier 1100 series phones, there was a known issue with the power circuit. Your issue may be covered under warranty.

We have the same issue, the power board in the phone is the problem and is replaceable.

Is there a document that touches on this from Avaya/Nortel, with a doci number if possible. These phone were purchased some time ago and sat for a few years before we installed them so the warranty question is out the window.

Thanks
Phil

Found this link for you on replacing the board. Just Google 1140 Power Board and there is a ton of information out there along with replacement boards. Much cheaper than buying a whole new phone.
