Has anyone had any experience with the 1100 and 1200 series phones as SIP phones on IPO 7? I know most will say they are rubbish and a waste of time, and so far I agree, but it appeared in documentation that I should be getting a "feature" key held over from Nortel BCM which should be giving me at least some functionality. So far, no dice. I have 10 feature keys that I can't figure out if I can use. So far, I can't. I have a 1120, 1130 and 1230 converted in my office to play with. Constructive advice would be appreciated (especially for an old Nortel BCM guy).

I think they mean the actual button labelled "feature" so for last number redial press feature 5 or whatever it is, they ate not talking about programmable keys, I have been messing with these but gave up as the integration is bad :)

Have the phones been upgraded? The feature key came about in firmware 4.1.11 I think. Its definitely in 04.01.13.00.bin. You'd need to check the 1120eSIP.cfg, 1140eSIP.cfg, 1220SIP.cfg, 1230SIP.cfg files and see which .bin file they are referencing. Also make sure those files are in the Manager directory or memory card.

Rubbish is a strong term. They got a lot better in release 7 than in 6.1. I don't know if they'll never work as good as they did on the BCM or CS1000, but I suppose that is to be expected.

To make the programmable buttons work and display what is programmed on the key, the file server type has to be set to Memory Card.

they are just SIP phones with too many buttons that are only good for blf / user features.

nasty.

That pretty much sums it up. But if you are a die hard, you can still press feature, wait a couple seconds, then 981 to get to voicemail.

...or just dial *17...

Oh yeah, forgot you have to then press SEND!!??

One of these days everything will work as it should, and then we'll all be out of a job!

They are ugli and workshop like most sip phones do.
So it has less features.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You can get around pressing the send button for calls if you play with the 11xxdialplan.txt file enough. You'd better brush up on your regular expressions first..
