11.1 app server install

I am trying to install 11.1 app server on a dell server and it crashes with a unknown error. this is the same server we have been using for 11.0. I can load 11.0 on it with no errors.

says Unknown error, right after setting up keyboard root password and nic. has option to report bug or quit. no matter what option I select the system reboots.

What media type are you using to do the installation? bootable flash drive?

Why not just upload the ISO and upgrade with the Web Manager? That's what I did and it went smooth.

I had issues trying to install the Avaya .iso on a Dell server as well. I worked with Dell and they could not get it to work and told me that they do not recommend installing this way. I ended up making the Dell server an ESXi host and installed the VMPro as a virtual machine.
I will warn you though there is a bug with some 11.1 VMPro installs where the VMPro will just stop answering calls and the only current solution is to downgrade to 11.0
I have a ticket open with Avaya on this and they are working on a solution. I actually have a call with them tonight so they can get some more logs to continue working on this.

If you decide to make it an ESXi you can go to Dells support page (support.dell.com) and put in the servers service tag you should be able to find the ESXi iso file that is compatible with your server. When I did this it was a couple weeks ago and at that time 11.1 was only compatible with ESXi 6.0 6.5 and 6.7

There are multiple ways of installing from an ISO - so not saying which method you used is not exactly helping anyone helping you. Similarly there are hundreds of different Dell servers, so not saying which is again not helping yourself. And if you go the ESXi route then of course you install from the OVA, not the ISO if you want support.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

We had the issue with a new Dell R240 server with a software raid that would not load the iso, we spoke with Dell and with Avaya tickets with both. After 2 weeks of trial and error it appears that the new raid set up is the issue. Avaya told use to use their Dell servers preinstalled or to get a R230 with the older raid set up. The R230 is no longer available from Dell so we have put it on hold for the moment.
