Could someone please explain to me what a 100 meg line consists of? What does this mean? how much faster than lets say your typical dsl line ect...is it fatsre than an OC12?

Thanks

i believe your dsl is probably between 1/4 to 1/2 a meg.

OC12 is 48 megs.

100 Megs is haulin butt....

You have to also consider the type of connection. a 100Mb ethernet connection will still only allow one packet on the wire at a time. An OC connection is going to be streaming packets. More efficient. The frequency isn't always a final say in what is faster when dealing with data throughput. You have to also look at how the data is being moved.

(numbers are rounded off)
A T-1 is 1.5Mb
T3 (or DS3) = 45Mb
OC3 = 3 x DS3 = 135Mb
OC12 = 12 x DS3 = 540Mb
OC48 = 48 x DS3...etc
