Would a 5mb/s transfer rate between a server and client be considered sluggish in a 100mbps network?

I am going to put a plug in for my FAQ on duplex in this forum, could be the issue

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

jimbopalmer,

Yes indeed.
Thanks for the timely reminder.

Member jimbopalmer has noted for a while that manual efforts to establish 100 mb. Fast Ethernet can easily prove self-defeating.

Usually, allowing autonegotiation to occur on both client adapter and switch is preferred to any manual settings. But, alas, not always. But the exceptions are much rarer than the rule: let the hardware do its stuff until unambiguously convinced it is not doing it right. Then intervene.
