Sorry if this sounds dumb...and/or has been covered.

We ordered a customer, new RDCs...and discovered 7/POSReady, has been replaced by 10/IoT.

We've discovered, it's like a win32 client. Should we even fiddle, with trying to get it to work with a Win7 BOPC Server/RES 5.1 set-up; or will it be a waste of time??

Thanks,

EDIT: After further research...looks like 5.6 and above??

OK...let me try and re-phrase, and/or elaborate on our question here:

To put it simply...IMO; there are 3 versions of the RDC out there. The "old old" one, is CE and has limited T/S driver compatibility; the "newer old" is POSReady or CE Pro...and has more flexibility, to run off-the-shelf T/S monitors (greater range of compatible drivers). And then there's what our vendor just sent us; the RDC-"210" (Oracle Part #7117571)...which has 10-based/IoT.

It looks to us...that the 10/IoT one, needs RES v5.6 or higher, to "work". The site we need it for, is 5.1 (and upgrade isn't much of an option right now). They had "old old" RDCs; but they wanted to use Planar off-the-shelf T/Ss (as opposed, to old, small, expensive...15" ELOs). We took a chance, on what our vendor was offering us; as quite frankly...they said, that's ALL they had! But...no dice.

So...the "old old" one, is of little use to us; and the "new" IoT one isn't either. We're having a helluva time...identifying, the "middle child", lol. We've got 2 sites, using them in the field; and here is a screen-shot of the "specs"

Any suggestions? IDK know the likelihood...of finding 5 of these older models; and then there's always, what happens next time.

Let me ask a crazy question: there's gotta be a way...to just buy "generic", unloaded DT166s; and flash the "OS"? Yes??

exact .. those are just above 5.6

you can use a win32 device and configure with win32 the kds (example one ws5a)
