10 base with 100 base.

I feel kind of stupid for asking this but it escapes me. Will a 10 Mb NIC communicate with a 100 MB NIC? Chris

That depends on if the 100MB can negotiate down to 10MB. I suspect it can in which case the answer would be yes. Of course you'll only have 10MB bandwidth.
 
Fiber optic NICs never change speed, I have used some switches which supported 100/1000 but not 10.

If you are using acopper crossover cable, they should both do 10 meg. I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
