I wonder if there is a way to get a little of the functionality that was in the 10.2 finder back in 10.3. Specifically, I find sometimes that even in list mode when vieing a folder, if I havn't advanced through the folders to reach a folder, I can't access the folder above it. For instance, I have a folder called Jobs. In it I have a bunch of folders that have specific jobs in them. If I go directly to a folder in the Jobs folder, I can't just slide back to the Jobs folder but have to go to the Home folder to get to the Jobs folder and to another in the list.

You can configure the toolbar of Finder windows to have a path list drop box. Once the drop list is available in the toolbar, you can navigate anywhere on the computer.

It is odd that it does not appear by default.

Yeah, I have to say I'n not terribly impressed with the new finder. The side bar has it's uses but I preferred the favorites in the dropdown. It's too clunky now.

Just as in OS 9, you can control click the name of the folder at the top of the window and it will give you a drop down list of all of the folders that it is contained by.
