Hello I have 2 peer to peer networks in 2 different locations. I just purchased 2 Windows 2003K Servers, (one for each office). I want to implement a Domain based Network in both locations but I am not sure if I should have 2 different domain names one for each office ( office 1 = dommainname1.com office 2 domainname2.com) or is it better to have the same domain names in both offices ( office 1 and office 2 = domainname.com )???? Is it better to have the same domain name in both offices?? or is it better to have 2 different domain names in each office?? Thanks so much

What kind of network connection do you have between the offices?

I have a Cable connection between the 2 and I could setup VPN between the 2 using the routers

You could have the same domain, dcpromo the first as a new domain in a new forest, run through the whole setup including dns, then at the second site dcpromo the box as a dc in an existing forest go through the setup, once you have them both up and replicating (dns especially), go ahead and make the 2nd dc have its own global catalog to cut down on bandwidth usage. There is probably more to this but thats a quick rundown, search for some KB's. Overall one domain will make the rest of your setup a bit less painful.

ok sound great thanks... for both servers to replicate and see each other, my routers have to have a vpn connection between them right?(meaning there should be a VPN connection between the routers)

Yes, they have to be able to "see" each other through the VPN connection.

What about: site1.company.com & site2.company.com

why do that when I can just have company.com? as Cstorm said overall one domain will make things easier instead of having 2 different domains or 2 child domains...........

I agree with CStorm.

A single domain with multiple sites will be easier for you to manage.

I hope you find this post helpful.
