I am setting up a new install of Backup Exec 10 with a Qualstar library with 3 ait3 drives.

BE sees all 3 drives, but it groups 2 drives under the robotic library, and the other drive as a stand-alone.

I go into the Device Configuration Wizard and I try to drag the stand-alone drive to the library, but it only allows 2 drives in the library at a time and kicks one out to stand-alone each time.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I bought it x2. We got 1 key for it only though. Do you think we should have gotten 2 keys for this? Or does BE know that this key is good for 2 licenses?

Thanks.

sound like the library is misconfigured
If it SCSI based ID change the library to SCSI ID 2 then Drive 0 to 3 and so on. Disabled and delete the existing drivers and library out of Backup Exec. Stop and Disable the removable storage service.
INstall the latest veritas drivers and power down the server and the library. Bring the library up first and make sure the SCSI bios is ok, then bring up the server.,

Update: I got this resolved... and here were my findings:

Contacted Veritas - they stated that one key is fine if it is a 2-license key.

Problem was on my actual library - the config had t1 as first tape in library and t2 as last tape in library - I changed last to t3 and BE automatically saw all 3 drives as part of the robotic library.

Thanks!
