We are a school that has a MICS 4.0 with VM4.0. In our teacher offices, there is one phone for 3 people each with a different VM. I'm looking for a solution whereby the greeting on the phone's main extension, say 780 could prompt the caller to press a button and extension # to transfer to the VM needed, i.e., x680 or x580, if the call is not for the person on x780. I've tried the # feature (which works internally) but that does not seem to work with an external call. And the CCR feature seems to be for incoming calls that would hit the AA rather than the operator first. At present we prompt callers to Dial 0 and ask the operator to send them along to the correct VM. Any advice???

Which Vmail do you have?

You could have the one mailbox answer and say, if you are calling for so-n-so #1, press *+mailbox number, for so-n-so #2, press *+mailbox number, for so-n-so #3, please leave a message after the tone .....

External users who reach the auto attendant need to dial:
**(mailbox#)(password)#
they will be logged into their mailbox.
Internally if an extension is shared amongst users with a voicemail box already assigned the user presses Feature981 to do a voicemail login:
If the PSWD prompt appears press the * key to get LOG
From LOG enter the (mailbox#)(password) combiation to login to the correct mailbox.
Example of (mailbox#)(password) combo:
users mailbox= 222
password = 1234
combo = 2221234
From AA user presses **2221234# to login

MRoberts - We have Norstar VM4.0. And I incorrectly typed a # when I meant * in my original post. In any event, I tried what you had written below previous to my post and as soon as I press * (from an external call), the system says "Exiting System" and hangs up. If I use the * from an internal call, it works properly. Is there a programming sequence somewhere that I can change to have the * work as a transfer instead of an exit when an external call attempts to transfer to another internal DN with VM on it?

You need to change your AA programming to allow "Return to AA= Y".
This will prevent the system from disconnecting you when it sees the * key being pressed from a menu.
Feature983
login
press AA
press GRTG
press AA
Change Return to AA prompt to Y

Aragon - Perfect! The * works now and will be quite useful to our staff....
