Hi there I hope that someone can help.
First of all,I installed an Sis 900 PCI fast ethernet adapter in my computer a cyrix 333, 2.0gb hd, 52 cd rom, 64 mem, 1 mb sis graphics card, it also has CMI8738/c3dx pci audio device. I took it out but the computer keeps telling me that I have not installed it properly. How do I stop this.

2.A Mstask window keeps on popping up when windows gets beyond the boot up screen. It tells me that I have not got enough memory to open it and to close some programmes to make more room. (I deleted some files in both programmes and win 98 and also clicked on some files, though nothing seemed to happen)

3.When I start Win98, it goes to a screen that asks me wether I want to start in Normal, safe, line by line comfirmation, etc.Any ideas how to stop this?

4.Final question, can anyone tell me why I the PCI 4 port usb card I installed doesnt work. Device manager says that it works, but I dont see how that can be. I brought the card, a usb browser mouse,an ordinary usb mouse last week and none of the work. I also brought last year, an Advent scanner which has got dual connection, it has only worked once with Usb, but works fine with parrallel port.

Please anyone out there help.

Hey.
Sounds like your PC is in pretty bad state.
Tell me, Do you have any yellow exclamation marks in the:
Start>settings>control panel>system>device manager
If you do, try removing these, with the 'remove' button, also if you have any 'Unknown Devices' remove them too.
You PC may want you to install some drivers on its way back up.
Let us know how you get on.
Pritch.

Your second listed issue (MSTASK) is usually associated with Internet Explorer 5.x upgrades or Win98 -- Changes settings with scheduler. I would double click your scheduler and see if there is anything attempting to run. If so,remove all items discovered there and give it a try. Good Luck ~
