My company has a P2P network of 11 computers. 1 W2000, 1 WinMedia, others XP Pro. All have been behaving themselves fairly well recently. Suddenly one XP machines browsers (IE, Firefox & Opera cannot access the internet, while other programs can.

Outlook receives & sends and AntiVirus, etc update themselves.
All computers are accessible across the LAN.
Internet connection is via the LAN.
All browser internet connection settings are correct.

What could cause this? What else can I check?

[Cheers]

Yes, I can ping Google & other sites.
E-mail & IM also functioning fine.

Appears to be only the browsers that arte affected.
Error messages:
IE > "Page cannot be displayed" ......
Firefox > "This page contains no data"
Opera > No message ... just a blank page!

[Cheers]

Tried Ctrl+F5 > no change.

I have CCleaner run at start-up so temp files always start clean.

Tried winsockfix.exe > no change.

"netsh winsock reset" > WORKED ..... THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU

Now ... what would have caused that to happen in the first place?

[Cheers]

Something caused the winsock to become corrupt. That can happen with spyware, viruses, and lots of other things that are not even malware related.

Anyhow, glad you are going.

Erik
